BetaList Submission Guide: Getting Discovered Before Launch

BetaList gives you access to thousands of early adopters who are actively looking for new products to try. Here is how to submit effectively and convert visitors into signups.

BetaList is a curated directory of upcoming and newly launched startups. Unlike Product Hunt, which focuses on launch day, BetaList is explicitly pre-launch — meaning you can submit before your product is fully built and collect waitlist signups from people who want early access.

The audience on BetaList is smaller than Product Hunt but arguably more valuable for pre-launch startups: they are explicitly there to try new things and provide feedback.

What BetaList looks for

  • A product that is not yet publicly available or recently launched.
  • A clear value proposition with a specific problem being solved.
  • A working landing page with a signup form or waitlist.
  • A product screenshot or demo image that shows what the product does.
  • A short description that explains the product in plain language.

How to write your BetaList submission

Product name and tagline. Keep the tagline under 100 characters. Use plain language that describes what the product does, not what it aspires to be. "Automated invoice reminders for freelancers" outperforms "The future of freelance finance."

Description. Write two to three sentences that explain the problem, your solution, and who it is for. Use the voice of your target customer, not investor pitch language.

Categories and tags. Choose the most accurate categories. BetaList uses tags to surface products to subscribers with matching interests. Accurate tags matter more than volume of tags.

Converting BetaList visitors

BetaList visitors are warm: they just clicked on your product because something interested them. Your landing page needs to answer three questions within 5 seconds: What does this do? Why should I care? How do I get access?

  • Make the primary CTA the waitlist signup or early access request.
  • Include a short explainer video or animated GIF showing the product in action.
  • Add a line about how many people are already on the waitlist to create social proof.
  • Follow up with every email signup within 24 hours personally.
