How to Get Your First 10 G2 Reviews
G2 reviews unlock buyer trust for B2B SaaS. Ten genuine reviews unlock ranking eligibility, category badges, and a conversion lift that compounds over time.
G2 is the largest B2B software review platform, with millions of buyers using it to evaluate tools before purchasing. Unlike Product Hunt — which gives you a one-day spike — G2 provides ongoing buyer-intent traffic that compounds as you accumulate reviews and improve your rating.
Getting your first 10 reviews is the hardest part. After that, review accumulation becomes self-sustaining if your product delivers real value.
Setting up your G2 profile correctly
- Claim your free listing — you can appear on G2 without paying for a premium plan.
- Fill every profile section: description, features, screenshots, pricing, and categories.
- Choose the right categories: narrow is better than broad. A specialized category ranking is more valuable than a broad one where you rank poorly.
- Add 3 to 5 high-quality screenshots showing the product in use, not just the marketing homepage.
How to ask for reviews without being annoying
Identify your happiest users. Look at usage data to find users who are active, have been using the product for more than 30 days, and have not submitted any support tickets. These people are most likely to leave a positive review.
Send a personal email. Reference something specific about their use: "I noticed you have been using [feature] regularly — it would mean a lot if you could share your experience on G2. It takes about 5 minutes." Include a direct link to your G2 review page.
Time the ask. The best time to ask is right after a success moment: after they hit a milestone, complete an integration, or express satisfaction in a support interaction.
Responding to reviews
Respond to every review publicly, positive or negative. Buyers read responses as carefully as they read reviews. A professional, specific response to a negative review often converts more buyers than an unchallenged positive one.
