UpStart Guide
How to Use UpStart Recommendations to Launch Faster
UpStart gives you platform matches and custom pitch copy. The fastest founders convert recommendations into submissions within 48 hours of analysis. Here is the workflow that makes that possible.
Getting platform recommendations is the starting line, not the finish line. The value of UpStart compounds when you execute systematically: prioritize by fit score, submit in order, track outcomes, and iterate. Here is the workflow.
Day 1: Review and prioritize
- Open your recommendations dashboard and sort by fit score.
- Identify the top 5 platforms with scores above 75. These are your Day 1 targets.
- Read each platform's suggested title and description. Edit them to match your voice and add any specific proof points (user count, revenue, notable customers).
- Check each platform's submission requirements tab to understand any additional assets you need (logo size, video, etc.).
Days 2–7: Submit in waves
Submit to 2 to 3 platforms per day rather than all at once. This spreads your notification effort across multiple days, gives you time to respond to comments and engagement on each platform before moving to the next, and allows you to refine your copy based on early feedback.
Use the UpStart dashboard to track each submission: submitted date, URL, and status (pending, live, generating traffic).
Week 2+: The mid-tier submissions
After the high-priority platforms are live, work through platforms with fit scores of 50 to 75. These require less effort and time investment but still contribute to the backlink flywheel and long-tail traffic accumulation described in the directory submission strategy article.
